Morganville Vampires Book 7 Fade Out

Rachael Caine

Cover Design- Finally we see another face. Going on the lipstick, I’m thinking Eve. Why we have waited this long to see Eve’s face, I don’t know. There is something about this cover that I found eye catching. Finally! 4 STARS Character Development- In Fade Out we see a new side to Amelie. Finally, a touch of humanity! Caine also introduced a new character, Kim. Right away I wanted to smack her. She is one of those characters you long to smack seconds after she opened her mouth. You know what I’m talking about. The way she treats Claire and then flirts with Shane had me seeing red. And what she did to all of them… let’s just say I probably would have treated her differently than they did. Just saying. Caine also introduces Ada with more detail in this book. I must say while reading about Ada made me think of Synergy from the cartoon Jem and the Holograms when I was younger. 5 STARS Concept- I have to admit Caine’s having a character trying to out the Morganville Vampires with a Big Brother kind of show was interesting. It sounds far fetched on getting people to believe it’s a reality show, but as pointed out in the book because it is far fetched some might believe it. Either way I would definitely watch! 5 STARS Plot/Subplot- The plot was slightly improved with this book, but it was more of the same. Introducing a new character with the mindset of her exposing the vampires was a good idea, but it was overshadowed by the staleness of the other books. 3 STARS Entertainment Level- I wasn’t as entertained with this book as I was with book 6 but I wasn’t bored. Once Kim’s plan was revealed I had to know if she succeeded, and I wanted to see how Claire would treat her when they found her. 3 STARS Overall- 4 STARS
